Owen Building
Providence, Rhode Island

This historic tax credit project involved renovations to an 1866 five-story office building. The interior space planning included reconfiguration of the lobby, reception and common areas, as well as office layouts. An existing restaurant at the basement level remained in operation during renovations, and a new coffee shop was added at the first floor.  The restoration of the building exterior involved window and brick masonry restoration, along with decorative metal and wood work preservation.  Mechanical systems upgrades included relocating the basement boiler room to a vacant space above one of the two stair towers. The project received a Certificate of Merit from the Providence Historic Preservation Commission.
