Archives Barn
Little Compton, Rhode Island

The Colonial Period Gould Barn in Topsfield, Massachusetts was dismantled, transported, and reassembled at the historical society’s property in Little Compton, Rhode Island. The barn restoration included a new shed addition, matching the character of the barn, along with discretely placed climate control and lighting systems to protect archives and display historic artifacts. Later modifications such as the Victorian period trim and cupola were eliminated, restoring the original appearance of the barn.  This project received an award from The Newport Historical Society.
